Xfinity TV Packages & Prices
Xfinity offers three different TV packages: Choice TV, Popular TV, and Ultimate TV.
In January this year, the company also introduced a fourth plan—Sports and News TV—that might be for you if you only want to immerse yourself in sports and news.

Whichever plan you choose, remember that the actual channel lineups and prices vary across locations. For example, here are the Xfinity packages available at my location in San Francisco, California (ZIP code: 94110):
Package | Channel Count | Monthly Price | Term Contract |
---|---|---|---|
Choice TV | 10+ | $60.20 | ❌ |
Sports and News TV | 50+ | $90 | ❌ |
Popular TV | 125+ | $109.20 | ❌ |
Ultimate TV | 185+ | $127.70 | ❌ |
However, on the other side of the country, in Miami, Florida (ZIP code: 33125), the prices are slightly different:
Package | Channel Count | Monthly Price | Term Contract |
---|---|---|---|
Choice TV | 10+ | $59.70 | ❌ |
Sports and News TV | 50+ | $90 | ❌ |
Popular TV | 125+ | $104.15 | ❌ |
Ultimate TV | 185+ | $134.45 | ❌ |

Once you are sure that Xfinity is available in your area, you are set to choose a package that fits your needs and budget.
However, remember that taxes and equipment costs add up later, along with many optional add-on services and subscriptions that can push your monthly costs further up.
That said, the good news is that the TV plans come without a contract and also have a 30-day money-back guarantee, letting you opt-out whenever you wish.
We will walk through all these additional charges in a while. But before that, let’s have a closer look at each of the four Xfinity TV packages.
NOTE: To keep things uniform, I will be using prices for San Francisco, CA, 94110 for the rest of this article.

The Xfinity Popular TV package doesn’t offer complementary benefits as the Sports and News TV plan does. But if you leave that part out, it is the most well-rounded and cost-efficient of all the Xfinity TV packages.
At around $110 a month, the plan gives you 125+ channels across genres. That’s around 75 extra channels compared to the Sports and News TV plan.
From local news to live sports to even kids’ content on Nickelodeon and Disney, the Popular TV plan contains a good mix of channels. It might be perfect if you have people of different ages in your household.
4. Xfinity Ultimate TV

If you want to make the most of your TV, the Ultimate TV package is Xfinity’s most premium TV plan, offering over 65 additional channels compared to the Popular TV plan.
You get everything from ABC to NBA, Nat Geo Wild to Cartoon Network, and BBC News to Vice—basically, pretty much any type of content you might want to consume.
If you ask me, this plan has more channels than I’d ever watch. But if you have a wide taste or have people of all ages and tastes in your home, this plan might suit your needs just right.

Xfinity Additional Charges
We have talked about discounts. Now, it’s time to talk about the additional charges that come later in the purchase process.
- Equipment cost:
You will need a TV box for your TV package. Xfinity offers the X1 box at $12/month/box.

- Shipping charges:
The shipping charges for TV packages range from $15 for standard shipping to $29.95 for priority shipping. These charges will be due on your next month’s bill.
- Taxes:
Your TV plan may come with some taxes that may range from $5-10 or more depending on your plan and region.
How Much Will Xfinity Cost You Overall?
Let’s calculate the total costs, taking Xfinity Choice TV as the base plan and Xfinity Streamsaver combo and Entertainment as add-ons. Here’s how the monthly charges add up:
- Choice TV plan price: $60.2
- Xfinity Streamsaver: $15
- Entertainment Add-on: $17
- X1 TV Box: $12
- Autopay and Paperless Discount: $10
- Monthly plan tax (for ZIP 94110): $6.81
The total cost comes down to $101.01/month.
Depending on your shipping method, you may also have to pay a one-time shipping charge of $15 or $29.95 next month.
Xfinity Bundles And Deals
Now, let me take you through some of the ways you can save money while purchasing an Xfinity TV package:
- Paperless Billing and Autopay Discount:
You get a flat $10 monthly discount on all Xfinity packages if you set up online automatic payments directly via a savings or checking account.
- Multi-product Discount:
Xfinity offers a discount of $20 when you bundle your TV package with any other plan.
- Bundle Discounts:
These discounts are applicable on select TV and Internet bundles over and above the other two discounts.
The best part? The three offers can be clubbed. So, let’s say you bundle the Popular TV plan ($109.20/month) with the 500 Mbps Fast Internet plan ($65/month for the first year).
After discounts, you’ll pay $129.20 instead of $174 a month, which makes it an effective discount of $45/month.
How To Select An Xfinity TV Package
If you are not sure which Xfinity TV package is right for you, consider these factors to make a choice:
- Price:
If you have a fixed or rough estimate of how much you want to spend, use it to eliminate the plans that don’t fit in your budget.
- Channel Lineup:
Analyze your viewing habits. Which kind of content do you watch? Which channels do you want? Choose a plan that best aligns with your viewing needs.
- Viewers:
If you have other people in your household, choose a plan that best fits the needs of all viewers.
Since all Xfinity TV packages come without contracts and have the same equipment fees, the above factors should be enough to help you select your plan.
Xfinity vs. Other TV Packages
Let’s see how Xfinity’s TV plans compare with those of other providers.
Provider | Starting Price*(per month) | Max available channels* | Contract Required? |
---|---|---|---|
Xfinity | $60.20 | 185+ | No |
Spectrum | $45 | 160+ | No |
Optimum | $30 | 420+ | No |
Astound Broadband | $32 | 300+ | No |
Cox Cable | $71 | 250+ | No |
*The actual pricing, availability, and channel lineup may vary based on your location.
Is Xfinity Worth It?
Overall, Xfinity has a decent mix of affordable and premium TV plans. While I find the Choice TV plan too costly for its limited channels, the value for money jumps for higher tiers.
The Popular TV plan is my favorite, and the News and Sports TV is just as worth it because of its attractive complementary benefits.
On the flip side, I feel that the base plan prices are misleadingly different from the final costs. I’d rather want to see the TV box price right at the beginning instead of getting surprised by an additional $12 cost in the third step.
That said, if you are okay with this little surprise, Xfinity TV plans are worth it.

Conclusion: Xfinity TV Packages Are A Bit Costly But Offer Good Value For Money
If you are looking for a provider that offers well-rounded TV packages without contracts and a mandatory internet plan, I’d easily recommend Xfinity TV packages.
Even with its comparatively higher pricing, Xfinity does offer good value for money with its plans and bundle offers. The latest Sports and TV package is also a great addition with its complementary Peacock Premium and 300-hour DVR.
Remember to choose your plan wisely after factoring in your viewing needs, budget, and other factors. You can go for a standalone Xfinity TV package of your choice or bundle it with an internet plan to save more money—the choice is yours.
FAQs
Since every package comes with a unique channel lineup and price, the best Xfinity TV package effectively depends on your specific needs, budget, and preferences.
Currently, Xfinity does not offer any special TV packages for seniors.
While you cannot customize the channel lineup of a base plan, you pick add-on channels and packs based on your liking for additional charges.
You can lower your monthly Xfinity bill by choosing paperless automatic payments and also by bundling the TV, internet, and mobile plans into one.
Since Xfinity offers contract-free TV packages, you don’t have to pay any fee for canceling your plan. However, if you bundle your TV with Xfinity Internet, you may have to pay an early termination fee of $110 as internet plans come with 1-year contracts.
